Anyone looking to go down a rabbit hole in these waning hours before the run of stories which will get us to the beginning of a new Doctor Who era will be rewarded by the seemingly endless variations of Doctor Who title sequences over in Youtube. Remixes of classic sequences. They’re there. Speculative intros for new Tennant and/or Gatwa are well represented. Sequences done in Minecraft or Lego. Yessiree. Even video titles for putative 27th or 38th Doctors from the far future have a presence.
It’s always amazing to see how creative and/or elaborate these titles can turn out to be as well as being informed/remixed from the actual titles used from 2005 onwards. Whole bunch of vortexing going on. With the diamond logo coming back there are even mixtures of classic and new to bridge the decades from 1974 to 2024.
The thought now as it was 5 + years ago when we last visted this subject, we here at the Tour find it all amusing, but we also remember that it was one of these fan-made titles which caught the eye of Steven Moffat and was commissioned for the Peter Capaldi titles back in 2014. Will the actual titles yet-to-come closely echo something already over at Youtube? It’s not an absurd thought.
Here’s a sampling, the thinnest edge of the wedge, for what’s on offer–just beware that time will likely slip away down your own personal vortex.
