Doing a bit of topical clean-up before Series 14 begins in earnest. Today (as of this writing) marks the 18th Anniversary for The Girl in the Fireplace, an unquestioned highlight of David Tennant’s first series.
As it happens in the Tours other peregrinations, we came across a story which featured both Tennant and Sophia Myles in a first series episode of Foyle’s War from 2002 titled ‘A Lesson in Murder.’ Myles as the innocent daughter of a corrupt judge and Tennant as a conscientious objector who eventually signs up for the war.
Of course this is early, early Tennant, so there’s a certain curiosity in just seeing him as a proto-Doctor, which we have noted before., but unlike another very recent foray, there was no ultimate treat of getting to see both of them in a scene together. No surprise really since the cast for this kind of premiere drama was rather large.
That’s all right. 2006 came soon enough for that kind of spark.
