The Tour has been uncharacteristically quiet concerning Extremis, which followed in the Capaldi ‘tradition’ of format-bending stories such as Listen and Heaven Sent. We liked it a bunch but knowing it was the first of a linked series of stories felt somewhat obliged to withhold some minor judgment until more evidence was in.
That arrived this week with The Pyramid at the End of the World. In what shapes up to be the best season of nu-Who to date, some poor unfortunate tale will come out 9th of out 12 when it would otherwise be well regarded in any other year. The Pyramid at the End of the World rates as the best of the season so far–‘despite’ being so much more traditional, (and mind you this is the Tour we’re talking about) because it pays off Extremis so well.
It’s a great 2-1 punch, and we can’t wait for number 3 next week.
