One of the nicest things about having a long-term fan of Doctor Who like David Tennant or Peter Capaldi piloting the TARDIS is that they share our sense, however oblique, of Doctor Who history. There are genuine moments when the present directly touches the past.
Such a thing happened a few days ago when Katy Manning was making an episode of Casualty in Cardiff and found herself adjacent to the TARDIS set with Capaldi. Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were Capaldi’s Doctors growing up so he reenacted one of Pertwee’s more memorable photos from Colony in Space.
