While we have definite quibbles about having a ‘Doctor-lite’ episode in an 8 episode run of stories, it’s all about what you do with it, and whether the companion, inevitably, can hold viewers attention on their own.

Delving into folklore for the companion ‘curse,’ Gibson has to navigate the descent from confusion to isolation and eventually desperation before finding a way to turn the tables at a critical moment. We loved it. At the same time, we just don’t want too much of it.
