The inevitable course this mini-course of stories the Tour has been on has taken us to The Giggle. Of course the predominating thoughts regarding The Giggle has everything to do with the bi-generation, and we certainly expressed our feelings about it.
In the year since the original airing in late 2023 it had been our hope that our initial impressions would soften somewhat towards the indulgences shown in The Giggle.. We were wrong in the sense about being wrong about The Giggle. All we could think of during this 4K re-capping was … The End of Time Pt II.
This isn’t necessarily meant to be a bad thing. But in some corners, The End of Time Pt II is a somewhat divisive story, especially the ‘victory lap’ which comprised the last 20 or so minutes of that story. And while we loved it at the time, and largely still do. the Tour can understand why that might prove to be an indulgent turn-off.
So while the last part of The Giggle could not and indeed should not be considered a rerun from The End of Time Pt II, in its own way it’s not all that different either.
In the end RTD found it very hard to quit David Tennant.
